Green Planet Power Solutions, Inc is a privately-held renewable energy company leading in the development of clean energy through cutting edge technology as well as proprietary technology and streamlining of the construction process. Founded in 2008 in Northern California, the GPPS Team has over 50 years combined experience in alternative energy construction and development. GPPS is focused on creating a future that includes renewable energy and currently has projects in design in California, Delaware, Nevada, Hawaii and Texas.
Green Planet Power Solutions’ focus is primarily utility scale solar and biomass developments. This direction has enabled us to utilize the most applicable and efficient site specific technologies available. Due to our unique skill sets, Green Planet Power Solutions can bring the highest rate of return per technology per site.
Inspired by nature and driven by opportunity, our goal is top notch service from initial concepts to full implementation of all of our projects from concept through maintenance and financial servicing. We are able to achieve this through technology development and licensing, as well as owning and operating facilities, and providing onsite products and services.

Steve Carpenter
President | CEO
Steve Carpenter has over 24 years of senior management experience in real estate brokerage, property acquisition and development, serves as CEO of Gray Construction and is also the Manager of Sierra Crest Partners, Stonepath Corp, and Brand X Real Estate. He is a serial entrepreneur who acquired the Tahoe-Truckee Real Estate Company in 1985 and built it into the Prudential California Realty with 23 offices, 700 agents, $50 million in annual revenue, and $1.5 billion in annual transaction volume. Since selling the business to Coldwell Banker in 2001, Steve has been active as a developer, serving as general manager and owners’ representative for multiple private real estate investment companies. His responsibilities included site selection, design, consultant team selection, and financial reporting.
Steve became active as a real estate sales person in 1985, and has held a California Real Estate Broker license continuously since 1992. From 2000 to the present day, he served as founder, general manager and broker for private real estate investment companies, including Carpenter Kunhart Holdings, LLC; Group Four Fund, LLC; Group Four Management Company, LLC; and three SDS Group LLC's. Prior to that, he held various senior management positions including Executive VP of Jedstar Technologies, Inc.; Executive VP of Jupiter Technology, Inc.; and President and CEO of eWebdesk.
Steve is also a leader in the community by serving as President of the Truckee-Donner Chamber of Commerce, and on numerous municipal and regional boards and committees. In 1994, he was elected to a four-year term as a Councilman on the Truckee Town Council during the formative years of this new town, and he served one year as Mayor Pro Tem. Steve was an instrumental influence in the creation of the first Truckee General Plan, its first Development Code, and every first Ordinance required of a new municipality.
Coleman Cassel II, PhD
Founder | President of Strategic Development
Coleman has a Doctorate in Business Administration. He obtained his Bachelors of Science from the University of Nevada (1996) and competed in two different sports (Football and Rugby). After a 5 year stint as an engineer, Coleman embraced his entrepreneurial spirit and embarked on a series of business ventures from local night clubs to clothing lines totaling seven companies in all, as well as his Real Estate Agents license.
In 2002, Coleman Cassel set out to find an answer to people’s debt issues, and a few months later STARTOVERTODAY.COM was born. As founder and CEO, Coleman has helped over 50,000 families systematically turn burdening debt into assets. The company, headquartered in Roseville, California, has over $1.5 billion dollars in debt under management and has developed a deep understanding of the financial solutions industry. They have developed a reputation of being one of the only true financial solutions providers that work with their clients to develop customized solutions with one goal in mind, “Getting our clients completely debt free in the shortest, most ethical amount of time possible!”
Coleman and his wife Allison have been together almost 20 years and have two boys, Conner and Cade. The family enjoys camping and swimming in the family pool.
Doug Gray
President of Construction and Installations
Doug Gray has been involved with construction since 1979 and has held a general contractor’s license since 1989. His vast knowledge of all the construction trades and his keen business sense have allowed him to create one of the most diversified construction companies in Northern California, Gray Construction. He embodies superior skills in project planning, project execution and cross-functional coordination, while having the ability to foster and cultivate skills of third party resources, peers and subordinates to accomplish common goals, promote best practices and generate positive team play.
Doug embodies a personal philosophy of continuous improvement and strives for an utmost level of quality and craftsmanship in everything he does. These traits are timeless and are evident in his works. Through Doug’s experience he has witnessed firsthand the benefits and advantages of a forward-thinking approach. Through continuous modernization and technological advances, these levels of quality are achieved through ever increasing methods of efficiency. His vision and approach are independent of industry and knows no boundaries
- From 2000 to 2004 Doug served as Director for the Placer County Contractor’s Association, contributing greatly to the area’s construction industry. Doug worked as a liaison with the surrounding jurisdictions to establish more effective relationships between county and city officials and the construction industry.
- Member of the following associations: North State BIA, Placer County Contractor’s Association, Nevada County Contractor’s Association, Contractor’s Association of Truckee Tahoe, El Dorado Builder’s Exchange, Auburn Chamber of Commerce, Grass Valley Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Truckee Chamber of Commerce.
- In 2005 he was nominated for Builder of The Year for the Sacramento region.
- Under Doug’s direct administration he has led multiple homes to award recognition status, including the 2005 BIA Home Tour’s Best in Show, Best Floor Plan, Best Exterior Image, Best Kitchen, & Best Master Suite.
- Gray Construction projects have been featured in many large scale publications, including Comstock’s Magazine, Sacramento Magazine, and Sacramento Business Journal.
- In 2008 Gray Construction hosted the Auburn Symphony League Home Tour. The tour featured six homes designed and construction under Doug’s supervision and offered an in-depth look at the quality, amenities, and building practices of Gray Construction. This tour produced a record number of attendees and funds raised for the Auburn Symphony League.
- Doug currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Boys & Girls Club of Auburn. Through Gray Construction, he has lead a multitude of projects for the Club, including their operations facility and playground area, completed in 2009.
Joe Burns
Founder | President of Operations
Joe Burns is responsible for GPPS’s Operations Management. He brings 22 years of construction expertise and experience in the construction trade and has been a licensed General Contractor for more than 15 years. He is highly capable of interfacing with leadership at all levels, including the business unit leaders and the project execution team. Joe is a self-starter with a strong desire for continuous personal development. He is a graduate of SMA solar academy in Commercial Systems Design training. His diverse background encompasses several project management positions including a senior position for Takhar Development overseeing the construction of approximately 60 custom homes a year from land acquisition to project completion, as well as, a project supervisor for Westrum Construction building elite large custom homes. Joe was the owner/contractor of Design Renovations, a large remodeling specialty company. In summary, Joe executes projects with a strong sense of safe and ethical behavior and a proven commitment to meeting goals.
David R. Clark
General Counsel
Dave Clark was a partner heading the Business Litigation Department of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, a 70-lawyer firm headquartered in San Diego for over 20 years, until leaving to form his own firm in June of 2009. Mr. Clark's trial practice emphasizes complex business and commercial litigation, including antitrust and other unfair competition charges, patents, trade secrets, copyrights and other intellectual property matters; defense of lawyers, accountants and other professionals from liability claims; real estate litigation, including land use and entitlement issues, energy-related matters and environmental contamination; labor and employment law; and securities litigation, including class actions. He has tried more than 100 lawsuits to verdict throughout California. He is also responsible for many favorable published appellate court opinions.
Having been born and raised in the Midwest, Mr. Clark graduated with honors and Phi Beta Kappa from Purdue University in 1975. He then relocated to California, where he attended law school at the University of Southern California ("USC"), earning his JD degree in 1978. Mr. Clark has practiced law in California continuously since then and handles matters for local and international clients throughout California.
Mr. Clark is admitted to practice before all California State courts, and the Federal courts in all districts in California. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Clark has received the highest rating (A-V) available from Martindale-Hubbell for ethics and legal ability. Multiple client references may be obtained on request.
Jim San Filippo
Project Manager / Estimator
Jim joined our company with over 35 years of experience in a variety of positions in the construction industry. Jim's career in construction spans over three decades, and projects with value exceeding $1B. He has performed estimating and project management services on projects located in the Bay Area, Sacramento and Reno regions. Jim managed hundreds of projects including high-end custom residential, corporate campus sites, commercial, industrial, high tech, bio tech, laboratory, medical and hotel projects. Early in his construction management career, Jim served as Safety / Personnel / Industrial Relations / Warranty Administrator with Hawaiian Dredging and Construction Company for Maui operations.
Jim Williams
Marketing / IT
Throughout Jim's professional career he has demonstrated a pattern of continuous growth in areas of responsibility, work-load and scope. He is responsible for maintaining a marketing infrastructure, including collateral material, original photography, design and final production of all marketing literature, project site documentation, the design and management of the company website, as well as incorporating best practices in demonstrating company attributes and differentiators to the marketplace. Jim also implements and provides first hand support to the IT operation of the company including all hardware acquisition, software programming and staff training.
Jared Carpenter
Administrative Director
Jared Carpenter recently earned a degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. Although Jared is new to the residential and commercial construction industry, his degree and owning of JC Basses, a custom bass guitar manufacturing company, proves he has a unique skill set that dovetails nicely with Green Planet Power Solutions. Jared brings education based knowledge to an industry dominated by real world experience and presents a different perspective to every situation.
